We had a more relaxing weekend, after the all the decorating we had done during the week. Our weekend started on Friday when we went all the the way to Luton for my prize lunch only to find the place was closed. We got there at 12 noon, checked again at 12.30 and 1pm...still closed! What time do people have lunch in Luton?! So now I'll have to wait until the Christmas holidays to claim my prize.
Saturday was spent vegging infront on the TV watching films. We rented out 'The Bourne Identity', 'The Bourne Supremacy' and 'Saw' from our local DVD rental store (we got fed up of waiting for our online DVD rental to send these particular DVDs...actually any DVDs! They aren't exactly fast at sending them out! Rant moan whinge etc etc.) Anyway...I digress...we watched the films, all of which I enjoyed a lot. We saw 'Saw' (ha ha) just before we went to bed...which could possibly had something to do with the strange dreams I had that night. I dreamed that I was trapped in a room with a stool (the one we'd used to stand on for decorating purposes all week!), a saw, some Brie and clingfilm. All very stange...and most annoyingly reoccuring! I was worn out by morning trying to solve the puzzle in my sleep (Yes, I sawed the stool in half and wrapped the Brie in the clingfilm...but did I get out?!?)
Yesterday evening I went to a salsa hallowe'en party. It was very good, just a shame it was a pretty long drive to get there! Some of the usual suspects from Thursday were there and I had some good dances. The advanced lesson was speedier than I'm used too, but once I got to grips with the teaching style and the partners in the circle is went quite well. Now looking forward to the Christmas salsa party!

The prize goes to...
Well, I recieved a letter from Chiltern Radion (97.6!!!). My prize (see previous blog) is a lunch for 2 at Zi Cafe Bar in Luton. So tomorrow we are having a day off decorating and will be making a trip to Luton.
Not only that, but I got a signed photo of the Ben Dudley (the DJ), which is better than the prize don't you think?!!? At least he is nice to look at...
Apart from that, the decorating is going well. We've painted the ceilings in the kitchen and hall/landing/stairs and papered the walls there too...I never want to see wallpaper and paste again...

Radio competitions
A funny thing happened to me this morning...
Carl and I were listening to the local radio this morning while decorating and a competition came on to recognise a clip of 80's music. Carl got it straight away (China in your Hand by T'Pau) and got annoyed at how stupid the people entering the competition must be. In the end I said I'd text in with the answer. With the competition only minutes from closing, I ran upstairs and logged onto the Chiltern website, got the number and text the answer with my name and where I live and pressed send. I got a text back saying thanks for entering and then a couple of minutes later they had a draw for the winner and suprise suprise....I didn't win. Oh well I thought better luck next time.
However, the story doesn't end there. We carried on decorating for a couple of hours and then suddenly my mobile rang (I have a new mobile by the way and it took a while to register that it was my phone!) I answered it and it was a guy from Chiltern radio saying I'd won a prize of a dinner for 2 somewhere in Luton. Confused? I was! So I spoke to him (it was being recorded for play on air later.) I must have sounded like a right twit...not very excited as I thought it must be a joke...until he asked me my favourite song....and he had to prompt me with "China in My Hand by T'Pau". So I had to say that was my favourite song ... which of course it isn't! He then said he'd call me back later for my details.
Carl and I were now very confused. We carried on listening to the radio, but it was a female presenter on...so I thought maybe it'll be on later, quite looking forward to listening to my 5 minutes of fame.
A while later, it was still puzzling me, then I looked at the text message I'd recieved...it was from Chiltern 97.6...and we'd been listening to Chiltern 96.9. So what, you are probably thinking, but Bedfordshire, being weird and all has 2 different Chiltern radio stations (I only found this out for sure when I looked again at the website) I'd been listening to Chiltern Bedford all day, but entered a competition using the text number of Chiltern Herts, Beds and Bucks!!
We then raced around trying to find a radio that would pick up that frequency...but alas, I'd missed my five minutes of fame :o( I did get a phonecall after the show had ended and it was from the Ben Dudley (the DJ) so I gave my details and he said to look out for the prize in the post.
So somehow I managed to win a prize on a competition I didn't actually enter...great!! Maybe it's time to start playing the lottery again....

Nicky's 30th
What a great time we had up in Staffordshire for Nicky's birthday!
It started with an early morning rendezvous at the Little Chef (Lou and Nicky were not impressed with the pancakes!) and then on to Alton Towers! Yay!!
We were all set to enjoy ourselves and the fact it rained all day didn't spoil it for us! Actually, we were like over-excited children wanting to go on all the rides NOW!
Rita -the Queen of Speed was first...with a loooooooooooooooooooooong queue. It broke down twice before we got on it (reassuring isn't it? Especially when the fix the problem with a can of what looked remarkably like WD40!!) The guy behind us said 'there must be something wrong with the flange' in a 'Friends' type voice which made me laugh! It was pretty quick (0-100 in 2.5 seconds) and I enjoyed it…but it should have been longer!!

Limpetboy and Chudplug feeling the G's....
We also went on Oblivion, River Rapids, Nemesis, Air, Runaway Mine Train and Spinball Whizzer (which was one of my faves!)
Mr and Mrs Po, Limpetboy and the Plugs enjoying the river rapids
Unfortunately...Black Hole is no more :o( It closed in March-ish. We used to like that ride too. Bum.
The fun filled day was rounded off with a pub dinner on the drive back and a few drinks in Stoke/Hanley Lou and Rosspo's old haunts.
We hope you had a great time Nicky...we certainly did!! :o)
